Hey gang. Great news today. You’ve probably noticed that my blogging has been been anything but consistent over the past several weeks. The reason is my new site - The Naked Nutrition Network.

Let me tell you the best part. It is all free. If you are a frequent reader of the Naked Nutrition Blog you’ll want to update your bookmark as our new location will be www.nakednutritionnetwork.com/blog
Head over The Network and check it out. Max-Out Radio episodes are now being hosted over there and we have changed the name to Naked Nutrition Radio. There is also a section of the site for videos (I have some reviews posted already). A whole area will be dedicated to improving your health. Another section is all about Celiac’s Disease and eating a gluten-free diet. Finally, I have enrolled the help of Keith Scott and he is now the official trainer of the Naked Nutrition Network. He has a blog on The Network as well.
Check it out and let me know what you think (and don’t forget to update your bookmarks).

A week or so ago Wegmans’ (my local grocery store) started carrying beet greens - I’m addicted.

These beet greens come triple washed, bagged, and ready to go. The convenience is very high. They are a great substitute for spinach as well (aren’t I always preaching about dietary variety?). Here’s what I do - this takes less than 5 minutes in the morning.

- Get Out 2 Containers.
- Split one bag of beet greens between the two containers.
- Sprinkle on some chopped walnuts
- Add a pre-cooked chicken breast (cooked earlier in the week)
- That’s it
I’ll have a piece of fruit with these meals as well. When it is time to eat I pop a contain in the microwave for 1 min to “steam” the greens. When they are done I add olive oil, sea salt, and fresh cracked pepper (all of which are in my desk in my office).
Done. Delicious, Healthy, and Quick.
Could you ask for anything more?
Over the past couple days we have been getting walloped with snow. This is what it looked like outside my house yesterday morning. It isn’t the Vermont type snow dumpings that I’m used to but it is still significant.

I happen to love the snow so I’m not complaining. Shoveling snow is just another way to get out and exercise (I admit that sounds a little strange).
So what does this have to do with fat loss and nutrition?
Nothing.
One thing I did want to mention today is the Fat Loss Accelerator Program. Over the past 2 months I have been building, tweaking, and adding to this 45 day “let me take you by the hand and show you exactly what it takes to burn fat” program. If this were a computer program I’d say that we are officially done beta-testing (if that doesn’t make sense just ignore it - I’m trying to be clever).
Up until now the Fat Loss Accelerator Program has been free for the 97 people that have completed (or are still enrolled in) the program. Saturday is going to be the last day that you can enroll in the Fat Loss Accelerator Program for free when you purchase Your Naked Nutrition Guide.
You may be wondering “well what is in this 45 day ‘let me take you by the hand and show you exactly what it takes to burn fat’ program‘”?
Here’s the deal:
I send you an email everyday for 45 days letting you know, day by day, what you need to be doing to achieve maximum weight loss. During the course of this program you will receive as part of your daily emails…

Tell me Pleeeeeease Tell Me that you eat breakfast everyday. Breakfast is more important than your pre/postworkout shake….well may not more important but equally important.
What percentage of your fat loss success hinges on eating breakfast?
Honestly, I don’t know anyone that has gotten lean and didn’t eat breakfast (with the exception of a few wrestlers). So I would say it reduces their risk of success by almost 100%. I remember reading an interview with world famous nutritionist and author Marion Nestle (Food Politics
and What to Eat
) says that eating breakfast ISN’T that important and that she don’t alway eats breakfast because she’s not hungry in the morning.
While if you really got down to the nitty gritty the physiological consequences of not eating breakfast won’t destroy your body and reduce your chance of success 100% - it won’t help you for sure. But more importantly I think that there is a mindset associated with eating breakfast (even if you don’t like eating in the morning). It is that shift in mindset from “I don’t eat breakfast” to “I’m going to do everything I can to succeed and that includes eating breakfast”. That shift is the key determinant for success.
So DID you eat breakfast today?
I did.
Here’s what I had.

Now my calories (especially carbs) are much lower than normal so don’t put too much stock in only the 1/2 cup of blueberries. Instead look at the make-up of this meal.
Walnuts - A blend of fatty acids including monounsaturated, omega-6, and short chain omega-3s.
Fish Oil - EPA/DHA (long chain omega-3s) for heart health, brain function, joint health, and fat loss
Emerald Balance - A greens supplement (it has a nice hint of cinnamon) to boost the antioxidant, and alkaline status of my diet.
Metabolic Drive - A great tasting blend of milk proteins
Blueberries - Low impact carbs and life extending antioxidants
Not a bad way to start your day huh?
Q: I just have a quick question about cottage cheese. I really like the stuff however I find it doesn’t sit well with me. I currently am using a 4% one. Would you recommend I try the lower % fat cheese since it may be the fat content that’s causing me difficulties with digestion?
Mike: The problem here is most likely the lactose (a carbohydrate found in dairy products) and not the fat in the cottage cheese. I would look for the Lactaid brand cottage cheese or cottage cheese that contains live cultures (Cabot is a brand that does).
Lactaid cottage cheese will contain lactase the enzyme responsible for digesting lactose and thus will most likely help relieve your symptoms.
If you buy cottage cheese that contains live cultures the bacteria can help digest the lactose and make the cottage cheese easier on your system.
